**Purpose and Summary**

As Editor you will report to the Director of Publishing and work within a team of editors to help produce a variety of product, including musicals, songbooks, CDs and various digital media. As well as having knowledge and an appreciation of music education in the pre-school and primary sectors, you will have a passion to produce product that is innovative and offers teachers the tools to deliver singing and music in their school with conviction, authority and fun. You will have the skills to manage a diverse workload, the ability to think outside the box and the confidence to offer ideas and comments to help shape our future publishing catalogue.

**Responsibilities**
- Work closely with the publishing team to select and edit new submissions
- Write engaging copy for product covers and blurb, teacher’s notes and creative curriculum ideas, that fit with Out of the Ark’s tone of voice and brand values
- Proof and edit scripts, text, printed music, tracks/recordings, Words on ScreenTM, blogs and various marketing material
- Work with our Words on ScreenTM software to upload/create new product
- Liaise and maintain good relationships with authors, music arrangers, engravers, designers, illustrators and other freelance contributors
- Attend choir recording sessions where appropriate
- Support the Publishing and Education Development teams to produce and curate content for Sparkyard
- Coordinate content upload to Sparkyard, ensuring consistency of house style and quality
- Coordinate updates, corrections and production of stock reprints
- Receive, assess (in consultation with the wider Publishing team) and respond to unsolicited submissions

**Skills & Experience**
- A knowledge of music - to degree or ‘A’ level
- Excellent editorial skills, including writing, proofing, editing (text and music)
- Good IT skills
- A meticulous eye for detail
- Strong organisational skills
- Experience in music publishing would be advantageous

**Salary**: £25,000.00-£28,000.00 per year
