Aberdeen, United Kingdom Penumbra Full time

If you’re looking for a rewarding experience and to be part of an inspirational team that really does make a difference, this is your opportunity to volunteer within our Aberdeen Nova and 1st Response Service. You may wish to volunteer in one or both of the services below.

We are looking to expand our team with a network of volunteers, who add value to the work that we do. Your unique knowledge and understanding gained from managing your own mental health challenges will be called upon; we recognise the value that lived experience can be. With passion, and compassion, you will bring authenticity and positivity in finding ways to empower people.

As a volunteer with our **1st Response Service**, you work alongside a staff member, providing support in the community via our walk-in service. The service will be based in various community locations across Aberdeen and support will be available to members of the community looking for support with their mental health and wellbeing. You will work closely with Penumbra staff, work in partnership with relevant stakeholders and be confident in raising awareness about the services we offer. The role will involve providing an empathic and safe space for people accessing the 1st Response Service. This may involve safety planning, finding ways to manage their wellbeing or signposting to relevant community groups or wellbeing services.

**Aberdeen Nova Service** is dedicated to empowering individuals aged 16 and over in Aberdeen to take control of their mental wellbeing by connecting them with the resources, amenities, and activities available within their community. We are also committed to increasing public awareness and reducing the stigma surrounding mental health through community events and educational workshops, spreading awareness throughout the city. Our service pathway offers a diverse range of support options to cater to individual needs. This includes one-on-one support, recovery groups, and weekly workshops on wellbeing. Our monthly workshops cover various topics related to mental wellbeing and are complemented by Walk and Talk sessions that encourage physical activity and exercise. Workshops are held at the Health Village, while the Walk and Talk sessions take place at different locations throughout the city to ensure greater accessibility for individuals seeking support.

As a volunteer within **Aberdeen Nova Service**, you will work alongside Penumbra staff to help deliver our weekly workshops on wellbeing.
