The post holder will lead and manage the staff working within the Cashiers section, to carry out the duties of cash collection, safekeeping and banking arrangements. Additionally, responsibility for cash reimbursements to patients and staff, in accordance with the Trust procedures. To ensure that Treasury policies and procedures are applied for the effective and timely recovery of Trust income in relation to assigned accounts. To ensure all invoices raised on behalf of the Trust are raised in a timely and accurate manner, as per NHS guidelines.

To ensure assigned account activity achieves monthly targets of debt cash collection and aged debt levels. To explain any non-achievement of targets in a monthly exception report to the financial services Manager, which identities future options for progress. To ensure that policies and procedures are applied to assigned accounts to minimise the loss of income from bad or doubtful debts. To ensure compliance with Trust SFIs, standing orders and scheme of delegation.

To support a professional and responsive can do culture within the team to ensure that all staff are customer focused and provide a high-quality service. To ensure that the Trust provides an efficient and effective hospital cashiering service for both patients and staff. Effectively plan own day-to-day workload, working with minimum supervision. Ability to use own initiative to deal with routine matters independently and only refer non routine matters to their immediate manager.

Manage the training of replacement or temporary treasury staff. Be aware of current NHS VAT legislation and ensure VAT is treated correctly when processing invoices.
