JOB OUTLINE:
**Role purpose**:
To promote and develop high quality, safe and professional childcare services for children. This is achieved by:

- Promoting children’s natural development by actively creating an enriching environment filled with diverse and engaging play & learning opportunities.
- Working with parents, carers and families in positive and professional relationship
- Working closely in open communication with management and colleagues in the following of policies and procedures of the setting.
- Proactively engaging in your own professional development including statutory training requirements, safeguarding qualifications, and sector knowledge
- Promoting a culture of positive continuous improvement via ongoing reflective practice.
- Understanding children’s individual presentation and requirements and utilising appropriate strategies to best support their needs.

**Desired attributes / criteria**:

- Training/qualifications/experience/abilities_
- Childcare Qualified to Level 3 or above.
- Valid Child protection certified with Designated child protection training - DCPO (or working towards)
- Valid Paediatric First Aid certification (or working towards)
- Minimum of 2 years qualifying experience.
- Solid understanding of The Minimum Standards for Childcare Northern Ireland - and the importance of adherence to individual settings policies and procedures.
- Understanding, experience and knowledge of positive outcomes for children in terms of child safeguarding, needs, development and positive behavioural strategies. Ability to utilise professionalism and emotional resilience in times of team challenge and dysregulated behaviours.
- Awareness of equality, diversity and inclusion across setting for children, colleagues, and wider stakeholders
- Proven experience and operational knowledge of confidentiality and GDPR.
- Professionally with cliental and colleagues including ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries and relationships.
- Supporting others - ability to support, nurture and promote positive authority as a leader in building a team. Able to lead by example. Ensuring staff adhere to policies and procedures and requirements outlined in staff handbooks on uniform and punctuality etc.
- Working with and taking direction from senior management - ability to work closely with wider management to reflect upon and improve practice, with effective and appropriate recording and reporting.
- Professional recording. Risk assessing, daily reports, logs and contributing to policies and procedure guidance.
- Organisational ability to run a room within setting - routines, planning and associated daily paperwork, registers, records, reporting and App use as required.

**Age 18+ only. Enhanced access NI vetting will be required as well as GP Health declaration form.**

- Monday to Friday
- No weekends
- Overtime
