**Overview**:
You will have the opportunity to gain valuable skills, knowledge, and experience as you complete a Level 4 Software Engineer Apprenticeship.

**The Role**:
The expectation is that the individual will become fully productive within 6-12 months, utilising existing / learnt programming skills and product knowledge gained through training (both classroom-based and on-the-job).

- Contribute to the investigation and design of appropriate software solutions
- Follow SCRUM practices to enable continuous improvement
- Undertake software development tasks
- Evaluate and demonstrate new technologies as required
- Support and devise test plans for the testing of new features
- Perform manual testing where appropriate
- Assist in the production and maintenance of functional and technical documentation
- Assist in diagnosing the root cause of software defects
- Provide fixes for software defects
- Remote based role, with required visits to Kent or Hull offices - (dependent on location) to support workshops and secondments
- Be part of a productive team

- A genuine interest in technology - latest and legacy technologies

**Skills and experience**:

- You should be technical savvy and have a desire to learn new technologies
- Adaptable and keen to learn new skills
- Demonstrable experience in Microsoft based web technologies
- Desirable experience of SQL / relational databases
- Desirable experience of Webservice technologies
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Operating System
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
- You should be able and willing to work as part of a remote team

**Entry requirements**:
The entry requirements for this programme are as follows:

- The learner must have completed a Level 3 Software Development Apprenticeship with QA or have an equivalent qualification with another training provider
- OR a BTEC Diploma in IT and a successful completion of our aptitude test
- OR 2 years’ experience in a relevant role and successful completion of our aptitude test

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

**Salary**:

- Starting salary - £22,500 per annum.
- Completion / end salary, £24,000 per annum.
- £600 Apprentice bonus scheme - rewarded upon successful completion of 6 monthly reviews.

**Future prospects:**

92% of QA Apprentices secure permanent employment after finishing their apprenticeship.Additionally, there may be opportunities to undertake further apprenticeship training as many of our programs offer on-going development tracks.

QA’s apprenticeships are funded by the Education & Skills Funding Agency (ESFA), an executive agency of the Department for Education.

To be eligible for a Government funded apprenticeship you must have lived in the UK or European Economic Area (EEA) for the last 3 consecutive years.
