The Fair Credit Charity, who wholly own the social lender Fair for You, was founded in 2014 for the public benefit to advance education in relation to money and debt management, relieve financial hardship and distress; prevent and relieve poverty.

Could your strengths, skills or experience make a positive difference to Fair Credit Charity? We are a successful charity with the simple, yet vital mission to campaign and develop better credit and financial solutions for low income households.

The Fair Credit Charity oversees and supports Fair for You in its work as a lender to financially vulnerable people and families. Fair for You is what is called a “Community Interest Company” (or CIC) which is created for a special purpose rather than to make profit for shareholders. Instead, it exists for the benefit of the people it serves.

In addition to overseeing the activities of the CIC, the charity also works to educate consumers on what Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) can provide, as well as influence how the financial sector lends to lower-income individuals and lobbying for greater recognition of the impacts of high-interest and predatory lending and the poverty premium.
