Customs Declarant

Full time/Permanent Monday-Friday Office hours 9-5.30pm
TLP are delighted to be supporting our client, an **innovative, international customs solutions provider, in their search for a Customs Declarant.**
The Customs Declarant will work as part of a **professional, friendly team**, to process daily customs workloads on behalf of customers.
**Role Outline**
- Complete all types of customs declaration, ensuring that all documentation meets legal and compliance standards.
- Prepare and process import, export, and transit customs entries.
- Liaise with HMRC regarding any compliance issues.
- Execute compliance checks and report any irregularities, support with internal and external compliance audits.
- Contribute to department continuous process improvements.
**Experience/skills Required**
- Awareness of customs regulations/procedures/international trade regulations.
- Knowledge of procedures across different transport/logistics modes e.g Air, Ocean, Road, Rail.
- High customer service orientation with a passion for delivering quality
- A good level of numeracy and literacy and problem solving skills.
- Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.

- Maldon, Essex: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Experience**:
- shipping, freight forwarding or customs industry: 1 year (preferred)
