Sellick Partnership has been engaged to recruit a Finance Business Partner on a Fixed Term Contract basis, on behalf of a Greater Manchester based Public Sector client. Working as a Finance Business, you will provide strategic support to budget holders operatingin both corporate and delivery areas across the organisation.

The role will provide the opportunity to influence and support key business functions and contribute to improving financial capability and decision making in the business. As a Finance Business Partner, you will bring your financial professionalism and developinsight and understanding of our operations to help to support our objective of continual improvement in financial management, ensuring that budgets and forecasts are managed effectively.

**Day to day responsibilities for the Finance Business Partner role include**:

- Provide an effective Business Partnering service to support senior management and budget holders in their budget management and forecasting responsibilities
- Ensure month end activities are performed in a timely and efficient manner, including the preparation of accruals and prepayments and providing assurance of financial commitment information.
- Provide monthly management accounts for directorates, reviewing and challenging forecasts, providing narrative explanations of variances and highlighting any emerging risks,
- Support the provision of high quality, timely management information and insight data, optimising the use of financial modelling and tools to support evidence-based decision making.
- Maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Support and develop team members by sharing specialist knowledge and experience, taking responsibility for improving the integrity, quality and transparency of data and forecasts and for the efficiency of the end-to-end processes
- Work collaboratively with other Finance Business Partners and other departments to ensure consistency of approach and alignment of financial plans with our overall financial strategy.

**Essential experience for the Finance Business Partner role includes**:

- An ability to engage and build effective relationships with a range of stakeholders so that your advice is sought, acting as a critical friend, giving sound financial advice while challenging existing assumptions
- Understand the requirements for monthly reporting and be able to deliver the monthly finance processes in an efficient and effective way that is sensitive to customer needs
- Ability to organise and prioritise your own work in an environment of limited resources and competing demands, ensuring that key deadlines are met.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with internal stakeholders and to relay complex financial concepts to a wide variety of audiences, presenting complex information to a range of stakeholders to aid understanding and enable decisionmaking.
- Ability to analytically examine complex information, identify critical evidence and make persuasive, credible recommendations.
- Good level IT literacy with experience of financial systems and the use of advanced MS Excel to analyse information and produce financial reports for a variety of audiences.
- Evidence of having supported the business in improving its financial management and achieving value for money

**Desirable experience of the Finance Business Partner role includes**:

- A working knowledge of government finance, accounting and budgeting rules and accounting standards to ensure that they are applied correctly
- Understanding of risk management principles in a public sector context
- Experience of engaging and working with external stakeholders to achieve satisfactory outcomes
- Experience in the preparation of statutory accounts which comply to current public sector requirements

The successful applicant will be a qualified accountant (ACA or ACCA or CIMA) or part-qualified, or qualified by experience.

You will be highly numerate, and able to work with complex data, from multiple sources, in different formats, to provide concise and meaningful commercial information to aid the decision making.
