We are looking for a full time **Payroll and Tax Trainee** to join our friendly team, located at our offices in Stoke near the A500 and A50 in easy reach of J15 & J16 of the M6.
**Main Duties & Responsibilities**:
Payroll:
- Prepare and check data prior to input on the payroll system
- Input/check payroll data on monthly payrolls
- Process, maintain and submit accurate payroll information and records as required
- Calculate and process deductions including PAYE, Tax, NI, SSP, SMP; statutory and BACS payments and statutory year end returns
- Prepare and maintain appropriate payroll reports
- Other general administrative duties as required including answering the telephone and taking messages for the payroll team
- Study towards the Level 3 Payroll Administration qualification
Personal Tax:
- Support the tax department with personal tax administration tasks
- Obtain information from clients
- Compile information received from clients and ensure it is corrected allocated and filed.
- Progress to preparing and completing income tax returns for individual clients, including calculation of tax position
- Notify clients of tax liabilities
- General tax department support
- Be educated to GCSE level.
- NVQ (or equivalent) in Business Administration is desirable.
- Administration experience is desirable but full training will be given.
- Previous experience processing processing data is desirable.
- Previous experience of using - of using sage or Brightstar software is desirable.
- Ability to problem solve effectively, and to work on own initiative when necessary.
- Strong team player, with an organised and positive attitude to work.
- Excellent time management, and prioritisation skills.
- Ability to work methodically and follow process.
- Confident and clear communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proven ability to work well in a fast-paced environment, meeting multiple deadlines within set timescales.
- Excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
- Flexible in approach to work tasks, being able to adapt quickly to new circumstances as they arise.
- Proactive approach to own personal and professional development
Salary and Benefits:
