Nursery Cook

Sunny Smiles Day Nursery is looking for a Nursery Cook to join our friendly and happy team. We’d love to hear from you if you are a team player, enthusiastic about planning and providing healthy and nutritious food for children and you have the following skills/knowledge:
Daily tasks:
Prepare healthy & nutritious food for children
Ensure effective stock control of ingredients in advance of requirement.
Ensure mínimal food wastage and be mindful of associated costs of any wastage.
Be aware of portion control in accordance with the age of the children in our care.
Ensure kitchen facility is kept to high standard of cleanliness.
Ensure Health & Safety measures are in place.
Ensure paperwork for Environmental Health is completed accurately on a daily basis.
Ensure effective stock control of domestic cleaning products and items.
Communicate effectively with the Management team and Childcare Staff.

Weekly Tasks:
Plan menus in advance.
To prepare food orders in advance in-line with agreed menus. This will require physical visits to shops.

Qualifications / Experience:
Essential Criteria:
Minimum 2 years' experience working as an employed Cook within a professional setting.
Transport required to carry out weekly shop
Food Hygiene certificate level 2 or equivalent.
Knowledge of Health & Safety issues.
Previous experience of Food Preparation.
Experience of managing a small budget.
Knowledge of stock control.
Experience of usage of food preparation equipment.
Ability to work on own initiative.
Prepared to be adaptable and flexible.
Good organisational skills.
Good time management.

Desirable Criteria:
Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering.

**Job Types**: Permanent, Part-time
Part-time hours: 25 per week

**Salary**: £10.50 per hour
