**Our client**

Morgan Hunt are working with a leading charity who have over 40 years experience in providing vital services to survivors of domestic violence and abuse in Manchester, including refuge accommodation, outreach and education services, and specialist services for marginalised groups.

We are currently working with them to recruit a Domestic Abuse Worker to support clients across their dispersed property offering in Manchester for approximately 9 months. This is a fixed term contract whereby you will be directly employed by the client. The hours of work are 35 hours per week on a rota covering between 9am and 8pm.

**The role - Domestic Abuse Worker**
- Ensure that individuals therapeutic, practical, and emotional needs are met within a psychologically informed environment.
- Work towards positive outcomes for individuals and families including reduction in crisis situations relating to domestic abuse or relationship issues.
- Reduce demand on statutory services by increasing economic independence through debt reduction, improved budgeting, and access to employment.
- Work on the organisations referral line on a rota basis, assessing applicants for availability of bed space and checking eligibility criteria.
- Advocate on behalf of the client and provide structured support to enable them to stat their journey of recovery.
- Co facilitate on the delivery of group work across Manchester which women can access as well as supporting women to step down to support from mentors as appropriate.
- Regularly review needs and risk assessments at point of entry into the service and subsequently at appropriate intervals.
- Formulate, and review progress, against individual support plans through encouraging service users to set realistic goals, whilst supporting them to make and implement informed decisions regarding their futures.
- Work with service users to implement actions from MARAC meetings and provide updates on progress to IDVA colleagues within a timely manner.
- Provide, or access by signposting to other agencies, appropriate information, advocacy, emotional and practical support, in relation to housing, legal, financial and other matters relevant to service users whilst maintaining the organisation's strict confidentiality procedures.
- Accompany service users, where appropriate, to appointments and meetings with other support services or agencies, including GP surgeries, solicitors and to attend meetings such as Core Groups to support their family.
- Experience of working directly with vulnerable people including experience of working with people affected by domestic abuse in a 1:1 or group setting.
- Experience of carrying out risk assessments, needs assessments and support planning / safety planning.
- Experience of group facilitation.
- An understanding of the impact of domestic abuse on individuals and families.
- Knowledge of welfare benefits, housing options and other appropriate support services.
- Awareness of child protection, vulnerable adults' protection and safeguarding and understanding of how to make safeguarding referrals.
- The ability to work effectively with partner agencies to obtain appropriate outcomes for service users.
- The ability to work on own initiative and prioritise workload in a busy environment.
- Ability to maintain up-to-date and accurate case files and individual support plans.
- A car driver is preferred but not essential.

Due to the nature of this role an Enhanced Adult and Child DBS is required that is dated within the last 12 months or on the update service. This role has been assessed and confirmed as open to women only under the Equality Act 2010, schedule 9, part 1.
