**_ Location:_** IMI Thompson Valves Ltd, Poole, UK. Site based.

**Job Summary**:
As the first point of contact for day to day operational issues the HSE Officer assists the HSE Manager in ensuring compliance with all Company HSE procedures, policies, legislation, management of HSE systems, reporting and the maintenance of HSE documentation and data.

**Responsibilities**:
Duties will include but not be limited to:
Ü Co-ordinate and assist with delivering, where applicable, HSE related workshops and training to all employees including Toolbox talks and safety alerts.

Ü Assist the HSE Manager to investigate accident, incident and dangerous occurrence making appropriate recommendations for remedial action in order to prevent recurrence.

Ü Assist with the management of accident and incidents records, ensuring management of timely closure of investigations and actions.

Ü Support development and issue of HSE communications such as campaign information, posters, briefings and noticeboard material.

Ü Act as a point of contact on all HSE matters, internally and externally, providing technical support where appropriate.

Ü Assist with carrying out regular Gemba walks across the site.

Ü Assist the HSE Manager to review, develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Risk Assessments, Tool Box Talk etc for all associated operations and HSE campaigns in line with Group SOPs, strategy and business needs.

Ü Ensure implementation and adherence to health and safety procedures and SOPs, Risk Assessments and HSE campaigns across the site.

Ü Assist HSE manager in assessing HSE training needs for new and existing employees

Ü Liaising with external training providers, managers and supervisors to plan and coordinate HSE training

Ü Carry out HSE Induction for new starters, Contractors or as required.

Ü Maintain a strong presence on site, collaborating with the Supervisors and employees to provide guidance, information, and advice on Health & Safety related matters.

Ü Carry out any other duties appropriate to this post, as necessary or as requested.

**The Person**:
**Essential Criteria**:
Ü NEBOSH National General Certificate

Ü Experience in a similar engineering, manufacturing or construction environment in a focused health and safety position.

Ü Strong knowledge of COSHH, PUWER & LOLER regulations.

Ü Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work at all levels and build trust.

Ü Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Ü Demonstrable ability to evaluate processes and instigate continuous improvement.

Ü Ability to build rapport and effective relationships with a wide variety of people.

Ü Ability to work independently or as a member of a team.

Ü Ability to demonstrate a positive can-do attitude and work calmly under pressure.

Ü Ability to maintain a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude at all times.

Ü Committed to work to deadlines and determined to see a job through to a satisfactory conclusion.

Ü High level of attention to detail.

Ü Strong PC skills, able to use Microsoft office suite, including but not limited to; Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.

**Desirable Criteria**:
Ü Environmental qualification.

Ü First Aider qualified.

Ü Fire Warden qualified.

Ü Previous experience in an Engineering environment.
