Job description
- Assist children with personal care, including changing nappies, assisting with toilet training and other associated welfare duties working alongside parents.
- Participate in the key worker system and be responsible for a group of children. Monitor, assess, record and report on their development and progress.
- Ensure your key children’s files are kept up to date with planning for their individual needs, observations, photographic evidence.
- Follow the Realising the Ambition framework and Curriculum For Excellence for guidance in your practice with the children, and planning planned learning experiences.
- Organise planned learning experiences for both indoors and outdoors to provide a broad and balanced learning environment. These learning experience should encourage creativity, co-ordination, independence, self-expression and learning through play.
- Set up the environment influencing by your planning to support the needs of your key children and the next steps that need to be addressed.
- Ensure that the environment is well set out and that resources are excitingly presented and accessible.
- Participate in free flow systems. This aids children’s development in self-assurance, independence, making choices and self-selecting.
- Supervise meals and mealtimes ensuring they are a time of pleasant social sharing. To ensure all staff sit and interact with their key children where possible and to make this a sociable time.
- To encourage where appropriate, all children to use cutlery, serve themselves, and sit at the tables during meal and snack times as an important element of planning to support learning and development.
- Implement positive management of children’s behaviour.
- Demonstrate a proactive approach using your initiative and showing resilience to take responsibility for getting things done.
- Respect the decision of their supervisor at all times.
- Feedback to parents daily on what their child was involved with in Nursery and any learning that took place. (give daily report sheet home with parent).
- Carry out on-going cleaning of the Nursery. Ensure all areas are safe and clean at all times for children.
- Undertake other duties appropriate to the grade and character of the work, as may seen reasonable by the Nursery.
- Supervise, effectively mentor and provide a good role model for all Nursery assistants, students and help new staff fit in with the team.
- Participate in professional development and training to keep CPD hours up in line with regulations from the SSSC.
- Be proactive in the use of reflective practice to help develop and improve own practice and working environment.

**Salary**: £16,000.00-£20,000.00 per year
