Job Summary:
We are looking for a caring, committed, and friendly Nursery Practitioner to join our small team at Stoborough Nursery from September 2024. Our nursery staff care for children aged 2 to 4 years; planning and carrying out activities in line with the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage.

**Responsibilities**:

- Help maintain the safety, security, physical and emotional welfare of the children in the Nursery bringing to the attention of the Supervisor/Deputy Supervisor anything about a child which gives cause for concern.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of current childcare issues, legislation, and practice.
- Implement Nursery policies and practices.
- Participate in planning and implementation of Nursery activities - to provide play experience for the children in line with the policy of the Nursery, it’s curriculum and the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
- To interact and support children, offering an appropriate level of support and stimulating play experiences for all children including those with additional needs. This includes facilitating activities with small groups of children and/or providing individual support.
- To act a key person for a group of children, liaising closely and building effective relationships with parents/carers and ensuring each child’s needs are recognised and met.
- _To make observations of the children and share with their parent’s/carers using the child’s on-line Learning Journal.
- _Take part in reviews of children’s learning and development.
- Participate in record keeping in line with Nursery policies and practices.
- Work positively with the team members and actively participate in team meetings, supervision meetings and appraisal meetings.
- Attend training courses as required, maintain first aid certification and safeguarding training, and take responsibility for personal development.
- Take any immediate action to attend to sickness or accidents by carrying out minor first aid and summoning relevant assistance.
- Pay particular attention to the children’s’ physical well-being when engaged in outdoor activities and inform the Supervisor/Deputy of any equipment that may be of danger.
- Supervise the children use of the toilets, including any personal hygiene requirements, nappy changing and changing of soiled clothes.
- Be aware of hygiene standards and ensure that they are met.
- To support the preparation/delivery of snacks and mealtimes within the setting, ensuring that all children’s dietary, allergy, and cultural needs are met.
- Help monitor Nursery supplies and inform the Supervisor of any shortfalls.
- Ensure that security is always maintained.
- To keep confidential any information regarding children, families or other staff, which is acquired as part of the job.
- To help set up for the daily programme and to participate in tidying and cleaning during and at the end of the day.

**Requirements**:

- A full and relevant qualification in early years (Level 2 or above for this vacancy) which meets Department for Education (DfE) criteria and allows the practitioner to be included in staff:child ratios.
