**Our Submarines Business**

Our Submarines business has been safely delivering world class submarines to the UK Royal Navy for more than a century.

The Astute class will equip the Royal Navy with its largest and most capable generation of attack submarines. We are responsible for the design, build, test and commissioning of these state-of-the-art vessels. In total, seven boats will make up the fleet, each weighing a mighty 7,400 tonnes.

Dreadnought is the successor to the Vanguard class of nuclear deterrent submarines. We will deliver four submarines to the Royal Navy, with the first submarine entering service in the early 2030s. Dreadnought is widely considered to be one of the world's most complex engineering challenges.

**Senior Planner**

Would you like to work on an exciting programme within the Planning Function that has responsibility for delivery of the Engineering systems of the Dreadnought Submarine Programme? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Planner at our site in Barrow in Furness.

As a Senior Planner, you will create and maintain resource P6 schedules and plans for engineering teams to enable them prioritise and resource the workload demand. Within this role you will have ownership and responsibility for plans and schedules; engaging with senior stakeholders and holding In-depth discussions with the Engineering function to review progress and feedback, to then better manage the schedules.

You will have the opportunity to positively challenge and influence up to senior level on best practice and ways of working.

This role will provide you with the platform to shape and influence future of the project, and there will be the option to undertake additional training and qualifications for personal and career development as you progress through BAE Systems.

**Your main responsibilities as a Senior Planner will involve**:

- To perform scheduling and intermediate project reporting on engineering programmes
- To undertake intermediate problem solving typically based on previous experience and escalate when appropriate
- The ability to lead the Planning, Monitoring and Control (PM&C) processes on a work package of a larger project
- Maintain P6 schedules and plans for engineering teams enabling them to prioritise and resource the workload demand
- Agreeing PM&C approach with stakeholders, preparing realistic plans including quality, risk and communications plans, and tracking activities against the project schedule, managing stakeholder involvement as appropriate

**Your skills and qualifications**:

- Previous P6 experience or knowledge is essential
- Experience using Microsoft office packages especially Excel is essential
- Planning / scheduling experience in a complex Engineering environment or similar
- Project Management qualification such as APM, or equivalent experience would be advantageous

You will be a proactive individual that has good organisational skills and use their own initiative with their work schedule. Collaboration with stakeholders is key in this role and requires an individual who can work across many areas building strong relationships.
