A busy medical practice based in Rutherglen is looking to appoint an enthusiastic, friendly and motivated Modern Apprentice in a Medical Administrator role.

This job will involve reception duties and the provision of general support to the multidisciplinary team. Duties can include but are not limited to, greeting and directing patients, effective use of the appointment system, booking appointments, processing of information and assisting patients as required and liaising with staff and external agencies.

**Responsibilities include**:

- Answering incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the caller’s request appropriately
- Effectively signposting patients to the appropriate healthcare professional depending on the presenting condition
- Processing requests for appointments and taking clear notes regarding reason for appointment
- Record requests for repeat prescriptions in line with Practice Policy
- Initiating contact with and responding to, requests from patients, team members and external agencies
- Administration of patient records
- Inputting data into the patient’s healthcare records as necessary
- Maintain the Workflow within Docman and ensure that actionable tasks are followed through
- Managing all queries as necessary in an efficient manner
- Carrying out system searches as requested
- Opening up premises at the start of the day when first to arrive, make all necessary preparations to receive patients.
- Keeping the reception area tidy and free from obstructions and clutter.
- Ensure correspondence, reports, results are filed promptly and in the correct records, ensuring that all recent correspondence is available when patients are seen.
- Monitoring and maintaining the reception area and notice boards
- Supporting all clinical staff with general tasks as requested
- Read coding as necessary
- Print off Patient Summaries for house calls
- Contributing ideas and suggestions to the smooth running of the reception and administrative functions

**Skills and Qualities**:
As a Medical Administrator, you will be supporting various key functions to enable our practitioners to deliver vital services to our clients. To be able to do this you must have good communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work under pressure, be punctual and polite, and have good organisational and time management skills. You will also need to be computer literate and be familiar with Microsoft Office ( Word, Excel, Outlook etc.).

**Job Type**: Part-time
Part-time hours: 25 per week

**Salary**: £9.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25 per week
