Roke is seeking to recruit a Commercial Officer to join our growing Commercial team where you will contribute to the success of the Roke strategy by supporting winning business across our three Business Units.

This is a 9 month Fixed Term Contract

**Job Purpose & Key Responsibilities**
- To provide commercial support from early business development, contract negotiation and on through the life of the contract.
- Liaising with Customers to convert quotations/bids into orders and maintaining regular Customer contact to ensure Customer satisfaction through diligent and accurate contract administration.
- Support the establishment of relationships with Business Sales Partners - review, approve, provide support and monitor adherence to Company and Chemring Group policies and business Governance requirements for appointment and management of Sales Partners.
- Assume responsibility for day to day commercial aspects of ongoing programmes, including the co-ordination of bidding activities, tender preparation and customer liaison.
- Review contracts, sub contracts and purchase orders up to certain limits and within guidelines agreed within a delegation of authority, recommend for acceptance as appropriate.
- Liaise with other departments as appropriate (e.g. Project Managers, Finance, Client Managers, Supply Chain etc.).
- Manage registration onto Frameworks and Customer Vendor approval requirements.
- Provide support to other areas of the business and members of the Commercial Team as required.

**Person Specification**
Education and Qualifications
- Good working knowledge and experience in similar Commercial environment and the International arena.
- High level of computer literacy is essential, preferably including SAP.

**Knowledge, Skills & Experience**
- Proactive team player, strong attention to detail, self-motivated and results driven.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage priorities effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including relationship development and stakeholder management; individual will be confident and articulate in all communications.
- Working in cross-functional and widely-dispersed teams.
- Experience in a relevant commercial or related role desirable.
- Knowledge and understanding of contractual terms and conditions of doing business, with the ability to review and negotiate a variety of contract types, including large UK Government framework contracts.
- Experience of international business and understanding of export control rules and processes would be beneficial.
- An awareness of the key principles of contract terms and conditions would be beneficial.
- Comfortable working with simple financial models to support bid pricing.
