**About us**

British Wax is a long-established family business, making specialised waxes for a wide range of consumer and professional uses such as candles, beauty, food and drink coatings, and personal care. We have recently built a new HQ in Redhill, Surrey with parking and electric vehicle charging within easy walking distance of Redhill train station.

The purpose of the cleaner / handy person is to ensure the manufacturing, storage, office and other areas across all sites of the business are kept clean, tidy, well maintained and in good condition.

This role involves working in a busy factory and warehouse environment, preventing a build-up of wax on floors, stairs and machinery, and keeping all areas clean, tidy and in good working order.

**Responsibilities**

Reporting to the Facilities Manager, you will be responsible for:
Tidying and cleaning the Factory, Warehouse and Packaging/Storage Areas.
- Tidying away tools, boxes, production materials and pallets.
- Using solvents and other methods to remove wax products from floors, stairs and other surfaces (PPE provided).
- Scraping and mopping factory and other floors.
- Cleaning other hard surfaces of wax products including machinery and metal steps.
- Laying down and replacing plastic floor coverings.
- Compacting plastic and/or cardboard packaging and liaising with waste companies.
- Emptying bins.
- Tidying the yard.
- Other general tidying as required.
- Managing waste from production, mainly packaging.

Cleaning & tidying the Laboratory, Reception Area, Stairwell, Corridors, Toilets, Kitchen & Offices.
- Mopping hard floor surfaces.
- Cleaning toilets and replenishing consumables.
- Emptying bins.
- Dusting/cleaning office surfaces.
- Dusting/cleaning reception areas and meeting rooms.
- Cleaning the kitchen area and replenishing consumables.
- Cleaning kitchen appliances.
- Vacuuming carpeted areas.
- Washing crockery and utensils.

Property Maintenance
- General repairs as required.
- Collecting of materials from suppliers.
- Installing fixtures and fittings.
- Basic plumbing.
- Decorating.

Qualifications, experience, personal qualities and skills
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment
- Excellent timekeeping and reliability
- Enthusiasm and ability to stick at a job
- Positive problem-solving attitude
- Ability to work to a regular schedule without supervision
- An eye for detail
- High standards of hygiene and cleanliness
- Basic DIY skills e.g. confident installing shelves, etc.

**Salary**

Starting salary £12.73 per hour, rising to £13.79 per hour following a successful 6 month probationary period
