**Data Modeler**

Location: Portsmouth once a week.

3-month contract

£700 per day (umbrella)

**Key purpose**:
The Enterprise Architect will work closely with Senior business representatives and IT leadership to understand the needs of the business to ensure that the right data is being captured, appropriately governed, and exploited in our client solutions.

**Structure and reporting relationship**:
The role is positioned in UK and Europe Digital and Technology Services and reports to the Enterprise Technology Officer for UK and Europe. In the execution of the role the Enterprise Data Architect will have significant interaction with colleagues in the UK&E and MyTechnology Think, Build and Run teams, in particular:

- Other Enterprise Architects in the development and governance of the overall Enterprise Data Architecture, including the data model required to support business capabilities.
- Solution Architects in the development of solutions for bids and other projects.
- The UK&E Enterprise Data Officer to understand and shape the requirements for data analytics and exploitation.
- The platform owner of the MI&A platform, to understand the capability and to express future requirements.

The individual will be expected to manage their own work (and that of others where appropriate) within agreed frameworks, drawing on support from other members of the IT Team where appropriate.

**Key accountabilities**:

- Develop and maintain the Enterprise Data Model for UK and Europe at an appropriate level of abstraction.
- Advise on the appropriate use of data to drive business value within contract solutions.
- Develop requirements for the divisional MI&A (Data and Analytics) platform to ensure the future direction of the platform matches the divisional ambition for the use of data.

Work with the Head of Insight and Analytics and their team to identify and execute on opportunities for deriving insight from, and exploiting the value of, data across the Division.

**Essential technical and professional skills, knowledge and qualifications**:

- Education: A Bachelor's degree especially in IT or data related discipline is expected but not mandatory. A thorough understanding of data architecture and data best practices is essential.
- Problem solving skills: They must be good at thinking up innovative ideas and solutions to They must be an analytical thinker and logical in approaching issues
- Communication: The Enterprise Data Architect must possess effective communication skills that enables them to convey complex technical details to colleagues and clients in a straightforward manner
- Flexible and innovative: Must be innovative and should be up-to-date with current technologies and data management and analytics practices. He/she must be able to identify technical issues and be able to design solutions to fix them. Most importantly, they should be flexible in making plans and program decisions.
- Ability to build from good relationships with clients/operational managers and colleagues
- Ability to gather and assimilate information
- Good knowledge of quality standards, legislation and best practice
- Ability to be adapt and prioritise
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Ability to think ahead and anticipate problems, issues and solutions
- Familiarity with data enabling technology.

**Additional / special features of the role**

Possess, or be willing to obtain, UK Security Clearance to SC level.

Ability to travel to attend meetings and client sites in the UK and Europe as reasonably required.
