Landscape and Grounds Maintenance Labourer

**Responsibilities**:

- Perform routine landscape maintenance tasks such as mowing, edging, trimming, and weeding to maintain the appearance and health of lawns, gardens, and outdoor spaces.
- Assist in the installation of landscape features such as plants, shrubs, trees, and hardscape elements (e.g., paths, fences, decks) under the guidance of a supervisor.
- Operate and maintain landscape maintenance equipment and tools safely and efficiently, including mowers, trimmers, blowers, and hand tools.
- Monitor outdoor areas for signs of pests, diseases, or other issues affecting plant health, and report findings to supervisors for appropriate action.
- Clean and maintain outdoor structures, such as benches, fences, and pathways, to enhance their appearance and prolong their lifespan.
- Assist in seasonal landscaping tasks, such as leaf removal, snow removal, and seasonal planting, as required.
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and others.
- Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively with supervisors to prioritise tasks and ensure timely completion of projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors to support the overall maintenance and enhance outdoor spaces.

Qualifications:

- Previous experience in landscaping, grounds maintenance, or related field preferred but not required; on-the-job training will be provided.
- Ability to operate landscape maintenance equipment and tools safely and effectively.
- Physical stamina and the ability to perform strenuous outdoor tasks in various weather conditions.
- Attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Strong work ethic and reliability; able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic knowledge of plant care and landscaping techniques is desirable.
- Valid driver's licence required
- Must be able to pass an enhanced DBS check for working in schools.

Physical Requirements:

- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects and perform repetitive tasks such as bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching.
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow.
- Ability to operate landscape maintenance equipment and tools safely and effectively.

Working Conditions:
This position primarily involves outdoor work in various weather conditions. The landscape and grounds maintenance labourer may also work in proximity to potentially hazardous materials and equipment. Protective gear and safety training will be provided as needed.

Salary and Benefits:

- Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

**Salary**: £6.40-£11.44 per hour
