**Electrical Craftsperson**
**Cruachan Power Station**
**Permanent, full time**
**Salary up to £45,000 depending on experience
**About the role**
As an Electrical Craftsperson on site at Cruachan, you’ll be responsible for maintaining and testing the equipment that forms the first reversible pumped storage hydro system built on this scale anywhere in the world. The scheme was so ambitious for its time that it took nearly 30 years to go from an idea to construction beginning. And now that site needs your help to keep it running as efficiently as possible, ensuring renewable energy is continually supplied to the grid.
That’s a pretty great job to brag about.
As well as the kind of amazing engineering systems you’ll be working on daily, you’ll be joining a growing ambitious organisation. Drax Group purchased Cruachan Power Station from Scottish Power, along with several other sites across the UK.
We’re passionate about our role in providing a supply of stable, renewable energy and this role is your opportunity to play a part in making a difference for the future.
You’ll be responsible for routine maintenance, fault finding, repairing, modifying, testing and commissioning electrical apparatus. With support and training you will become an expert in the plant, and in our health and safety procedures to assist and often supervise contractors with their work, ensuring safety, quality and environmental standards are maintained.
The role is Monday to Friday, but you’ll be required to work additional hours and weekends from time to time. You’ll receive training, both on the job, and through formal training courses to help you develop.
**About you**
You will need extensive experience in maintaining high and low voltage apparatus including switchgear, transformers, motors, actuators and instrumentation. You will need to be comfortable interpreting electrical drawings and experience of PLCs and other control systems would be an advantage.
You’ll have a NC/HNC or equivalent in a technical discipline such as electrical engineering, and full, valid UK drivers’ licence.
