**Job description**:
Are you driven to make positive contributions to manage or reduce the environmental impact of our aircraft platforms and systems? If so, we, are actively looking for an experienced Engineer with some experience in Environmental Management or an Environmental Manager with some experience in Engineering to lead on environmental protection and sustainability within our aircraft platforms and systems delivery teams.

Our Acquisition Environmental Protection elements, within our delivery teams, have a role for an individual who is a passionate environmental professional who is qualified and capable.

We operate hybrid working and your duty station can be aligned at any of the following locations:

- MOD Abbey Wood, Filton, Bristol BS34 8JH
- RAF Brize Norton, Carterton OX18 3LX
- RNAS Yeovilton, Ilchester, Somerset, BA22 8HT

Please note regular attendance at your permanent duty station (the locations stated above) may be required for this position. For all roles, there will be a requirement for some domestic travel. There may be a requirement for short periods of detached duty in the UK, which may involve overnight stays.

**About the role**

As a qualified Environmental Manager within an aircraft platforms and systems delivery team, you will be responsible for providing environmental management advice and playing an active part in the Environmental Management System (EMS) for the aircraft platform or equipment. This will include regular interaction with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders including the equipment end-user.

Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:

- Supporting the development and maintenance of process to satisfy the DE&S corporate standards for Environmental Management.
- Developing, managing and maintaining effective EMS. Identifying and analysing environmental impacts and contributes to the identification and evaluation of risk reduction measures, ensuring that these are adequately documented and managed.
- Working with colleagues at all levels to ensure compliance with relevant UK and EU legislation and regulations, MOD regulations and DE&S policy.
- Ensuring compliance with Project Orientated Environmental Management System (POEMS) to ensure that the projects EMS is robust and proportionate to the level of environmental challenge.
- Producing, reviewing, endorsing and recommending acceptance of environmental artefacts.
- Overseeing the management of contractual aspects to ensure environmental requirements are captured and the management of contractors who perform environmental activities.
- Providing informed environmental advice to decision makers through project environmental panels.

Identify opportunities and implement actions to help DE&S reach Net Zero, Resource Management and Environmental Objectives.

**Person specification**:

- You will hold Practitioner status in environmental practices or will demonstrate the ability to achieve within 12 months
- You will have experience in the use of Environmental Management Tools & Processes, such as previous experience in an environmental protection role developing an Environmental Management System
- You will have experience of providing technical advice and delivery of environmental products or services from within a regulated sector, such as aviation, rail, oil, gas, power or manufacturing.
