**What you can expect**:
As a qualified Carpenter/Joiner here at Novus, your role would typically be working alongside an experienced team of trade colleagues undertaking refurbishment works in customers homes, the team are focused on passive and active fire protection through replacement of fire doors and fire stopping activity.

You will complete a Level 2 Carpentry/Joiner qualification and we will support you to become certified in FIRAS after your initial 12 months in role, with the end goal to become a qualified carpenter focusing on Passive Fire Protection at the end of your apprenticeship.

The skills you would learn throughout your apprenticeship would include;.
- **Work Methods** Understand the purpose of a range of equipment & tools and how to use and maintain them safely
- compliance to regulations is particular importance in the Fire Protection sector.
- **Product & Specifications** - Gain expert knowledge of installation of passive and active fire protection works. Working with an experienced fitter you will learn how to fit fire doors, painting fire doors and complete fire stopping activities such as partitions in loft and void spaces.
- **Preparation & Removal** Learn preparation methods of removal before installation of new products.
- **Health & Safety** To learn the principles of health, safety and welfare and how these are applied in the workplace.
- **Team work** - The role will give the skills and abilities to not only be part of a team but to play an active role, typically our Fire Stopping work in teams of 2 people.
- **Stakeholder Management** Developing and maintaining relationships with Managers, Colleagues and Customers
