Role & Responsibilities:

- Act as Key Group’s formal Data Protection Officer, serving as point of contact for data protection authorities
- Work Proactively as Key Group’s Data Protection Subject Matter Expert, promoting best practice and develop policies and procedures to support this. Reporting into our Group General Counsel, this role will work closely with our legal, compliance and risk teams to ensure our data protection risks are mitigated and in accordance with our regulatory obligations and risk appetite.
- Provide expert advice and educate employees on important data compliance requirements
- Draft new and amend existing internal data protection policies, guidelines, and procedures, in consultation with key stakeholders
- Deliver training and/or create written training material to be used across all business units to staff members who are involved in data handling or processing
- Formulate and recommend changes or remedial actions which help to address any compliance gaps, including in response to specific data incidents complaints / assurance reviews, wherever possible adopting an approach which minimises associated impacts on service delivery. Confidence to use your initiative and critically evaluate evidence to come to sound findings and recommendations on this work is very important.
- Recommend and agree appropriate risk mitigations and solutions with stakeholders, helping to embed a compliance culture which promotes the concept of ‘data protection by design and default.
- Assist the business to prepare, then review and evaluate Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) from across the business, ensuring that Key Group uses the correct processes (inc. DPIAs) to achieve and maintain compliance with all relevant legal, regulatory and policy requirements governing the processing of personal data.
- Investigate personal data breaches, providing prompt support for urgent incidents and, where the threshold is met and in consultation with senior stakeholders, complete detailed regulator referrals within a statutory deadline of 72 hours.
- Deal with a variety of Data Protection queries and requests from Data Subjects
- Maintain records of all data processing activities of the company including DPIAs
- Take the lead in assessing new legislation or other regulatory changes and making recommendations as necessary to ensure that risks are mitigated.
