We are looking to recruit a Ward Clerk to work Tue and Thurs evenings 19.00 till 23.00 and Saturday 07.00 till 1900. Hours will need to be flexible to cover holidays.

Clifford Ward is a busy fast paced assessment unit with a high turnover of patients. The ward clerk is the first point of contact for patients and their family. The successful applicant will need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, have an approachable manner, have a flexible approachable to their duties and work to tight deadlines to achieve the service needs.

A good knowledge of IT and administration skills is desirable for the role but on the job training will be provided as needed.

Meet and greet visitors to the unit.

Keep patient information update on patient information system.

Administration duties - answering the phone, photocopying documentation.

Preparing and tracking of patients notes for filing.

Housekeeping of the Admin areas.

To maintain the patient records/notes and other ward records using computer based systems
- To communicate with the patients regarding demographics and other personal details

to ensure the patient administration system is updated.
- To complete the process and dispatch discharge notes and forward patient notes appropriately.
- To use effective communication skills to answer the telephone according to the agreed standard and give the appropriate information as required.
- To photocopy/scan documents as required.
- To ensure patient confidentiality at all times in line with the Trust policy.
- To assist in the induction and development of others by demonstrating own duties.
- To undertake other ad hoc tasks to support the service needs
