We have an exciting opportunity to join our Safer Handling Team as a Safer Handling Trainer working within the Directorate of Education, Research and Innovation (DERI).

We are looking for a dynamic self-starter to support the implementation of our moving and handling strategy. You will be instrumental in the development of the service, providing advice, support and training directly to colleagues across all of our Trust sites.

This is a challenging role which requires someone who has a passion for education and moving and handling. You will deliver Safer Handling training across multi-professional groups within the Trust, to ensure they are safe, competent, and compliant with current legislation, national and local guidelines.

You may currently be in a Key Trainer role or have experience in patient and load moving and handling practice. It is essential to have experience of delivering teaching sessions, and an enthusiastic interest in the safe practice of moving and handling. If you do not currently hold a Moving and Handling training qualification, you will be expected to achieve this within the first year in post. Full support and funding will be provided by the Trust.

- Management and delivery of Corporate and bespoke Trust induction and Core and Essential Skills training programmes
- Safer Handling service including Safer Handling training programmes
- Development and management of the Learning Management System including the Nursing and Midwifery Revalidation area and staff e-portfolio
- Administration of the Medical Appraisal and Revalidation system
- Development and delivery of Information Technology skills and Technology Enhanced Learning
- Management of the Education and Simulation learning environment

JOB SUMMARY

To provide a flexible approach to teaching delivery, facilitation and evaluation of patient and inanimate load safer moving and handling training. This may entail evening and weekends to support the whole workforce, as necessary.

Provide an advisory service to managers and colleagues on moving and handling issues when requested.

To support the Directorate of Education, Research and Innovation Strategy (DERI) and Education Plan for the organisation.

The post holder will be expected to work closely with a variety of service providers and promote the prevention of work-related ill health caused through poor moving and handling practice. They will work in collaboration with the Safer Handling Lead Trainer and Safer Handling Practitioner to address work issues/projects and to have a good understanding of roles and scope of practice of the multidisciplinary team

To support the production of safer handling training reports against Trust agreed targets.

To ensure there are clear learning outcomes identified and the return of investment of all learning activity is measured, recorded and reported.

Working towards the reduction of musculoskeletal injuries, the post holder will be required to promote patient independence, mínimal lifting, use of equipment and ergonomic changes to minimise risks to patients and colleagues and ensure safe, personal and effective care.

MAIN DUTIES
- To assist in the delivery and evaluation of evidence-based learning programmes in safer moving and handling
- To assist with the development and teaching delivery of additional training programmes as necessary such as core, essential and clinical skills
- Physically capable of demonstrating good practice
- Promote patient independence, mínimal lifting, use of equipment and ergonomic changes to minimise risk to colleagues and patients
- Develop and implement appropriate learning methodologies to create an inclusive learning environment for all
