Database Engineer

**Overview**
Your role will be to support our delivery teams in delivering efficient and robust data solutions, providing support and guidance to ensure all that is delivered meets our guidelines and standards.
In addition, you will be helping us to continuously improve our data platform, identifying gaps in existing processes or tools and implementing new ones.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Support our delivery teams in making their database changes
- Creating and maintaining database objects such as views, stored procedures, functions, UDTs
- T-SQL development for data migration and ETL processes
- Troubleshooting and monitoring production issues as and when they arise
- SQL Server performance monitoring and tuning, including index management, procedure and query analysis, code refactoring
**Skills and Experience**
- Data modelling and database design
- Proficient in T-SQL programming
- Strong knowledge of relational database design
- Previous exposure to an agile environment
- Good understanding of SQL Server Replication
- Database performance tuning
- Cloud infrastructure desirable (AWS and/or Azure)
- Source Control (preferably Git)
- CICD (flyway/Azure Devops)
**Key Measures and Targets**
- Maintaining data integrity, database stability and high performance (of database objects)
- Ensuring the company complies with data protection laws regarding security and safety
- Keeping our technical debt level to a minimum, helping to provide consistently reliable and effective releases
- Ensuring the data team is a confident and dependable source of knowledge when making data architecture and data storage technology decisions
