**SEMH Teaching Assistant**

**Location: Scarborough, North Yorkshire**

**Start Date: ASAP**

**Salary: £75 - £90 per day**

GSL Education are seeking a SEMH Teaching Assistant for a highly reputable Special Educational Needs School near to Scarborough, North Yorkshire. The position is to start from ASAP and is a full-time role. SEMH Teaching Assistant role and responsibilities:

- To support within a Key Stage 2 and 3 class of 2-3 pupils.
- Support the delivery of English and Maths using a individualised learning plans.
- Work with pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis to deliver interventions and other educational tasks.
- Ensure students’ learning environment is safe.
- Manage behaviour in line with Team Teach de-escalation techniques.

As the ideal SEMH Teaching Assistant, you should:

- Hold a Level 2 childcare qualification, or similar.
- Be experienced working within an SEMH School or Provision.
- Be a confident behaviour manager with experience of using Team Teach.
- Be knowledgeable about different behaviours associated with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
- Be a resilient, efficient, and welcoming individual who is a team player.
- Be able to show initiative and care when working with young people who present with challenging behaviours and maintain a sense of humour.
- Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including an enhanced DBS on the update service._
