Dock Hand

**Job Overview**

The post holder will be involved with the transport department administrative duties & ensuring deliveries/collections are made on time, communicating all movements to the necessary parties.

They will work in conjunction with other transport clerks in order to sustain the growth and maintain the legal requirements to run a fleet of the current size and its complexity.

**Responsibilities**
- Be the first point of contact for dispatch and collection of goods with both internal and external transport drivers.
- Have a good geographical understanding of the UK in order to be able to route jobs and allocate the most suitable external company to that work.
- Arrange freight/courier shipments as and when required
- Collate stock and prepare pallets for dispatch
- Manage and update internal systems
- Complete all the paperwork for each load
- Produce internal reports
- Communicate with Internal & External drivers
- Ensure a high level of communication is maintained
- Undertake vehicle checks as requested

**Skills, Knowledge and Experience**
- Holds counterbalance licence
- PC Literate/Have Computer skills
- Professional telephone manner
- A customer focused telephone manner
- A good geographical understanding of the UK as you will be required to route jobs
- IT and numerically literate
- Previous experience within a transport environment is desirable, however on the job training is provided
- Demonstrable attention to detail
- Reliable, Trustworthy and conscientious
