**Head of Upper School (Year 10 & 11)**

Full time - 35 hours per week, term time only

**Salary**: Grade 7 (Pt22 - 26 £24,910 - £27,846 actual)

We are seeking to appoint a Head of Upper School (Year 10 & 11) to join St Joseph’s. Our pastoral leaders play a pivotal role in the daily working life of St Joseph’s and the lives of our pupils and their families. They support both pupils’ social and emotional needs, their academic engagement with learning and support their families in keeping children safe. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is looking to make a difference in the lives of our pupils and to work within a dynamic and supportive pastoral team.

The role is a non-teaching role that involves working closely with young people every day, supporting them with all aspects of their school life including their attendance and punctuality, behaviour, uniform, equipment, safeguarding and welfare and, ultimately, their success in school. The Head of Upper School (Year 10 & 11) will be responsible for all aspects of pastoral care for both year groups and lead a team of form tutors to support the daily school lives of our pupils.

You will need have strong inter-personal skills because relationships with students, families and colleagues are at the heart of excellent pastoral care and they are a key strength of our school community: we care about every student and their family. You may have previously worked in a similar role, or you may be able to demonstrate in your current position that you are a great organiser, someone who is friendly and approachable, firm but fair and with lots of energy and patience You should have strong communication skills and be able to understand, process and analyse pastoral and academic information efficiently.

The role will be supported by an Assistant Headteacher along with dedicated members of the extended Senior Leadership Team regarding attendance, exclusions and other barriers to learning.

The salary will be within the Grade 7 scale (£24,910 - £27,846) with the starting point identified based on experience.
