**Job Purpose**
To support Schools, Colleges and University Services in the development and (re)design of space. The post holder will assess requests and develop initial concepts and thought-starter presentations to help business units visualise their ideas, whilst ensuring concepts adhere to the University’s design standards and relevant industry standards or regulations.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
1. Develop conceptual designs to communicate the vision whilst ensuring alignment with the University's space strategy and design standards. This will be in the recommended format of 2D plans and supporting presentations.
2. Collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to understand the cohort’s vision for workspace, teaching or research space. Support on developing content for user engagement sessions delivered in person or presented on a virtual platform.
3. Work alongside space planning peers to assist in delivering space reconfigurations, relocations, and change of use projects to support growth, increased flexibility, and evolving operational requirements. This may include leading the delivery of smaller projects that are solely furniture driven.
4. Ensure designs are compliant with appropriate policies and standards.
5. Assist in the preparation and delivery of workshops with internal and external stakeholders and supporting on data gathering exercises to support project outcomes.
6. Contribute to the post-occupancy evaluation of delivered spaces.

**Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience**

**Knowledge/ Qualifications**

**Essential**:

A1 Either: Ability to demonstrate competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary professional knowledge and management skills in a similar or number of similar roles. Or: Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 7 (Advanced Higher / Scottish Vocational Qualification level 3, Higher National Certificate) or equivalent, and experience of personal development in a similar role.
A2 Competent user of Autocad.
A3 Good understanding of latest building, construction and design standards and regulations.

**Desirable**
B1 Interior Design/Architecture/Space Planning Qualification.
B2 Knowledge of BIM and experience using Revit.

**Skills**

**Essential**
C1 Creative design and problem-solving skills.
C2 Ability to deliver high levels of accuracy, attention to detail and professionalism.
C3 Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision, be proactive and use own initiative.
C4 Excellent IT skills - particularly Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
C5 High level of numeracy skills.
C6 Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written), and the ability to deal with a wide range of stakeholders.
C7 Excellent organisation, time management and planning skills, and an ability to prioritise workload, multi-task and work to deadlines.

**Experience**

**Essential**:

E1 Experience of space design and planning.
E2 Working with stakeholders.

**Desirable**:

F1 Experience of engaging and working with professional project teams.

**Terms and Conditions**
Salary will be Grade 5, £25,138 - £29,605 per annum.
This post is full time (35 hours p/w) and fixed term for up to 2 years.
