**Activities and Responsibilities of the Post**

Principle Purpose of the role

An opportunity has arisen to join the Central Ticket Office team as a Safety Camera Enforcement Officer.

This role involves working within a small team of operators based at various locations across Suffolk using mobile and fixed speed camera systems at sites and on routes shown to have problems with speed related casualties, the role also involves attending court to give evidence in relation to speed related offences.

Main Activities of the Role
- Assist with the planning, preparation and delivery of targeted and intelligence led enforcement programmes
- Conduct speed enforcement activity in accordance with training, internal briefings and directions. Operate a range of speed enforcement equipment as trained and directed in compliance with manufacturers' instructions, NPCC guidelines and approved local practice
- Handle digital media and other evidential material in accordance with agreed secure procedures, to ensure integrity, continuity and admissibility of the evidence
- Maintain accurate records in accordance with good administrative practice and to satisfy evidential requirements. Prepare reports and statements and carry out any other tasks necessary for the processing of offences
- Attend court to give evidence
- Oversee, supervise and care for enforcement devices, site installations and other resources, ensuring serviceability, legal compliance, integrity and good value
- Carry out minor maintenance on equipment and installations, following internal procedures for calling in specialist assistance when necessary
- Assist in the development, testing and evaluation of procedures and equipment
- Any other duties commensurate with the role and grade as may reasonably be required by line management

Person Specification

It is essential that applicants meet the following criteria:

- Effective communication skills to deal with sensitive and confrontational issues and to present evidence relating to traffic offences in writing and before court
- Experience of using computer systems and basic keyboard skills
- Ability to work on own initiative with mínimal supervision and to prioritise and manage own workload within given deadlines
- Ability to carry out manual handling tasks in line with Health and Safety requirements
- Proficient in navigating by road with ability to locate sites from maps, map references and written descriptions
- Accurate in making observations, collecting information and keeping records
- Current full driving licence (valid for type of vehicle used by team)

It is desirable that applicants meet the following criteria:

- Understanding of the criminal justice system, road traffic law and the rules of evidence
- Proficient in operating and understanding technical equipment

Hours of work are 37 per week on a six-week shift pattern which includes weekend working. This post is offered on a permanent basis.

- Whilst the role is normally based at the aforementioned location, you may be required to work at other establishments across both Norfolk and Suffolk Constabularies as may be reasonably required. Police Staff Conditions of Service will be adhered to in such instances
