Umc Scotland Pastor in Charge

**Position Overview**: The UMC Pastor will serve as a spiritual leader and shepherd within
the United Methodist Church (UMC) congregation in Scotland. They will be responsible
for providing pastoral care, preaching, teaching, and fostering spiritual growth and
community engagement among members of the congregation. The Pastor will work
closely with church leadership, staff, and volunteers to facilitate the church's mission and
ministry in Scotland.
**Key Responsibilities**:
1. Spiritual Leadership:
- Provide spiritual leadership and guidance to the congregation in
accordance with the teachings of the United Methodist Church.
- Lead worship services, including preaching sermons, conducting
sacraments, and offering pastoral prayers.
- Provide pastoral care and counselling to church members, offering support
in times of need and crisis.
2. Teaching and Discipleship:
- Develop and implement educational programs and Bible studies to
promote spiritual growth and discipleship among church members.
- Equip and empower lay leaders to engage in discipleship and ministry
within the church and community.
- Provide opportunities for spiritual formation and Christian education for all
age groups.
3. Community Engagement:
- Build relationships with the local community and partner organizations to
identify opportunities for outreach and service.
- Lead and participate in community outreach initiatives, social justice
advocacy, and humanitarian efforts.
- Represent the UMC congregation in interfaith dialogues and collaborative
community events.
4. Church Administration:
- Collaborate with church leadership and administrative staff to plan and
coordinate church activities, events, and programs.
- Participate in church meetings, committees, and decision-making
processes to support the overall mission and vision of the congregation.
- Ensure compliance with UMC denominational policies, as well as local legal
and regulatory requirements.
5. Personal and Professional Development:
- Engage in ongoing spiritual formation, continuing education, and
professional development opportunities to enhance pastoral skills and
effectiveness.
- Stay informed about trends and developments within the UMC
denomination, as well as broader theological and cultural contexts.
**Qualifications**:
- Ordained Elder or Deacon in the United Methodist Church, in good standing with
the UMC conference.
- Master of Divinity degree from an accredited theological seminary or equivalent theological education.
- Demonstrated pastoral experience, including preaching, teaching, and providing pastoral care.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Commitment to the Wesleyan theological tradition and the mission and values of the United Methodist Church.
- Ability to work collaboratively with church leadership, staff, and volunteers to fulfill the ministry and vision of the congregation.
- Proficiency in administrative tasks and computer skills for managing church operations and communication.
- Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom and willingness to relocate to Scotland.

**Salary**: £12,000.00-£20,000.00 per year
