Recycling Advisor

Job description

Contract: One-Year Fixed-Term.

North Somerset Environment Company (NSEC) is seeking an enthusiastic Recycling Advisor to be part of its Safety, Health, Environment and Quality team, responsible for delivering small to medium behavioural change projects, education, and awareness campaigns across the locality, and supporting the environmental development of operational services in the Company.

The role is based at our Weston super Mare Offices but will require frequent travel across the North Somerset area for which a business-use only vehicle will be provided. The role is initially for a 1-year fixed term however we would consider making the role permanent and would sponsor relevant qualification to develop the successful individual’s future within the Company.

NSEC, in partnership with North Somerset Council, is responsible for collecting recycling and waste from over 100,000 homes and commercial businesses across North Somerset, along with managing Household Waste Recycling Centres at Backwell, Portishead and Weston.

You would be joining the Company at an exciting time, as we have expanded after successfully bidding and mobilising new contract services. NSEC are also launching a five-year Business Plan involving multiple commercial activities.
- A passion and enthusiasm about environmental issues
- Demonstrable experience within an educational, environmental, or communications-based role; successfully influencing outcomes.
- Excellent communication and inter-personal skills inc. presentation delivery
- Negotiation skills and the ability to persuade a wide range of audiences in changing behaviours to benefit both best value and environmental performance.
- An aptitude for research, collection of data and action planning
- Experience of producing and analysing reports specifically utilising MS Excel
- A full driving licence and flexible working approach
