**What role you will play in our team.**:
The Fired Equipment Specialist will provide daily Fired Equipment operational support as part of the facility's Engineering organization. Works with Operations, Maintenance and Engineering teams to ensure safe operation and maximum uptime and optimisation of an operating asset.

The role is based at our Fawley site, near Southampton, which is the largest and most technically complex refining and petrochemical facility in the UK.

**What you will do**:
The key responsibilities of the Fired Equipment Specialist include:

- Fired heater, burner and pilot condition monitoring through regular field observations. Troubleshooting and technical advice feedback to Business Teams.
- Setting of safe operating envelope through, planning and conducting field testing of Fired Heater and boiler minimum safe excess oxygen levels.
- Down-time inspection and work scope identification and input to long term equipment strategy.
- Provide hands on support and quality control for Maintenance activities primarily for burners and pilots.
- Deliver training courses for Graduates, Operators and Maintenance Technicians in Furnace operations, Troubleshooting and Burner/Pilot Maintenance.
- Participate in HAZOP’s for changes and projects.
- Drive improvement of fired equipment through identification and execution of reliability, safety, environmental and performance upgrades.

**About you**:
To be eligible for this role, you must have:

- GCSE Maths and English Level 4 or above OR BTEC OR an apprenticeship in a relevant area e.g. Pipe fitting; Instruments; Engineering
- Professional working experience of combustion in operations, commissioning, research and development and / or design of industrial fired equipment
- Understanding of burner operation, fired heater safety and safety systems and energy optimisation
- Working knowledge of burner cleaning
- Strong communication skills to engage across all levels of the organisation.

**Preferred Qualifications/ Experience**
- Identifying and mitigating risks on fired equipment
- Trouble shooting and fault-finding combustion equipment
- Understanding of both mechanical and instrument/electrical equipment associated with fired equipment.
