This is an exciting leadership opportunity within Immigration Enforcement (IE) where you can make a real difference to how we safeguard vulnerable adults and children. You will be leading a team of two EO's in delivering Operation Innerste, a multi-agency operation safeguarding unaccompanied migrant children.

The IE National Safeguarding Engagement and Coordination team (IE NSEC) is a fast-paced and dynamic team at the heart of Immigration Enforcement’s vision to create a robust person-centred approach, develop a widespread culture of understanding and support, and build safeguarding measures into all stages of immigration contact and decision-making. We are driving a culture change across our department to look beyond the obvious, and we want our staff to feel truly empowered to exercise their professional curiosity to understand the needs of vulnerable adults and children.

Making sure we have the right support in place for vulnerable people can be a complex landscape, often requiring multi-agency co-operation and engagement. IE NSEC is working with colleagues across the Home Office, Police, Local Authorities, and other external stakeholders to make sure our staff are equipped to identify vulnerabilities and take effective, early, appropriate safeguarding actions.

IE NSEC is part of the Operations Capabilities Command (OCC), where our mission is to ensure that operational colleagues have the skills, capabilities, tools, and infrastructure which are modern, environmentally sustainable, fit for purpose and allows staff to maximise their operational effectiveness.

Our aim is to work across people and strategic workforce planning, change, digital, performance, engagement, risk, law enforcement engagement or our vulnerability and fair treatment teams collaboratively as one team, as agents of change, to provide the innovation, service and thought leadership that is needed so that ECC runs well as a command now and transforms further to meet the demands and opportunities of the future.

The role will also involve supporting other safeguarding projects and responding to a variety of enquiries relating to safeguarding vulnerable people.

Key responsibilities of the role will include but are not limited to:

- Oversee the management of the Op Innerste referrals from police.
- Oversight of safeguarding enquiries to IE NSEC and providing support, advice and guidance, as required.
- Assurance that Op Innerste cases are actioned within our Service-Level Agreement (SLA).
- Assisting in the production of compliance data to measure a police forces ability to respond to Op Innerste.
- Daily liaison with police Single Points of Contact (SPOCs) and Local Authorities assisting managing Op Innerste cases.
- Reviewing cases in progress, allocating actions for consideration, and overseeing review outcomes.
- Update the Service Operating Procedures (SOPs) in line with any changes made centrally or locally.
- Quality assure EO work on a regular basis and provide feedback on performance.
- Working collaboratively with IE NSEC colleagues and project leads to support the wider work of the team, enabling us to respond flexibly and alleviate short term pressures.
- Oversee the monthly collation of the IE NSEC monthly MI pack ensuring that the information is accurate and reflects the work of the team.
- Line management of at least two EOs.
