**Senior Building Surveyor - Summary**

**£42,000-£46,000 + car - St Albans**

My client is looking for someone who is responsible for overseeing the delivery of the Public and Private Sector Disabled Facilities Grants, Aids and Adaptations to council to social housing.

**Key Responsibilities of the Senior Building Surveyor**
- Responsible for the effective management of the _Disabled Facilities Grants System and_aids and adaptations to Council owned homes. To provide advanced technical and legislative advice to officers of the Council and customers in relation to adaptationsunder current legislation
- To carry out surveys of properties to determine eligibility for one of a range of grants and to write up specifications for the work involved. This includes appointing and managing contractors and consultants on site in the delivery of works and liaisingwith occupants before the onset of any works in regard to health and safety, likely impact of proposed works on the household and project timescales.
- To liaise positively and helpfully with residents members of the public and councillors to ensure the smooth and effective completion of repair and improvement work to Council property on a daily basis

**Requirements for the Senior Building Surveyor**
- Technical qualification in Building Surveying or similar discipline
- Extensive experience within Repairs & aids and within a social housing environment
- Educated to degree or equivalent level
- Knowledge of legislation, regulations, standards and core disciplines of work area including DDA Act 1995, Health & Safety at Work Act, CDM Regulations, Building Regulations, Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006, the Housing Grants, _Construction_ and Regeneration Act 1996, HMO legislation, etc
