Working within the Healthy and Sustainable Homes team, you will be responsible for the enforcement of legislation relating to the improvement of housing conditions in York.

The role is varied and will include
- Undertaking complex inspections/ investigations into breaches of Housing legislation
- Deciding appropriate courses of action in relation to infringements, including the service of notices
- Producing infringement reports and recommending the most suitable course of action to deal with the offences identified,
- Supporting the development and transfer of knowledge to Compliance Officers.

For the role you will need
- a “can do” attitude to challenging problems and situations, and the ability to react at pace.
- an ability to write complex technical reports in easy-to-understand language
- excellent customer, communication, and interpersonal skills
- good IT skills including use of databases
- an understanding of the opportunities and challenges in creating healthy and sustainable homes across all tenures.

You will also need to be a team player with an ability to work across council departments, with other agencies, business, and the public.

You will need to communicate sometimes complex messages in easy-to-understand language so you will need excellent written and spoken English.

Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
