ARK RESETTLEMENT

**Job Description - Resettlement Coach**

Responsible to: Projects Manager
**Hours per week: 37.5**

**Salary: £24,000- 26,000 (depending on experience)**

**Summary of Duties**:
Resettlement Coaches are principally responsible for co-ordinating and completing projects and fulfilling their roles in the contract. You will be part of a team that works with our Service Users, who are known to the criminal justice system under the supervision of London Probation, and living in temporary supported accommodation as they prepare to reintegrate into society.

You will support Service Users who are homeless upon release from prison into supported accommodation. As part of our Resettlement Team, you will also support people who are experiencing mental health pressures in gaining access to services and developing coping skills.

**The support is for 12 months and consists of three strands**:
**Part A - Specific Duties**:
**Management**

1. Develop person-centred support plans and Risk Assessments with service users.

2. Provide assertive support to ensure effective engagement to achieve personal goals and aspirations for independent living, training, employment and education.

3. Act as a point of contact for other agencies such as Police, Probation, Local Authorities and other voluntary organisations working with the service users. Plan interventions flexibly to meet individual needs.

4. Support service users to maintain their accommodation, budget and develop personal responsibility, through coaching, action planning and goal setting.

5. Provide initial advocacy and support to access appropriate services and agencies.

6. Plan for more intensive support if needs change.

7. Support individuals to avail of social, cultural and other activities and facilitate a harmonious living environment amongst sharers.

8. Regularly review barriers to progress, involving other agencies as necessary.

9. Keep up to date records of support plans, risk assessments, and progress notes.

10. Keep up to date on current support models, care philosophy and mental health legislation.

11. Deal with general correspondence and enquiries relating to service users and the service. Keep up to date service user records.

12. Monitor the progress of service users who form part of any specific programmes.

13. Co-ordinate the activities of other staff members involved with the Moving Forward contract.

14. Complete within a specified timeframe the specific programme reports and workbooks.

15. Attend specific programme meetings.

**Part B - Shared Responsibilities**

**In conjunction with the Director and other staff**:
1. Attend and participate in team meetings to agree tasks, set priorities and exchange information.

2. Work within CIHA’s Lone Working and Safeguarding policies.

3. Maintain office systems and the central databases. Respond to general correspondence and enquiries.

4. Collate and produce statistical information as required.

5. Attend relevant local forums, meetings, to keep up to date on local service provision and initiatives.

**Part C - General**

1. Comply with the ARK Resettlement’s management policies at all times.

2. Report on work of the service to senior staff as appropriate.

3. Attend regular supervision sessions and appraisals of work.

4. Contribute to the development and implementation of equal opportunities strategies.

5. Work to the ARKRS’s Health & Safety procedures at all times.

**Part D - Person Specification (please address all points)**

**Experience**
- Experience of working with vulnerable young people, homeless people or in another social care setting. Or life experience of being a vulnerable young person, homelessness or the criminal justice system.
- Ability to plan support and set goals.
- Previous experience of working in a partnership environment or with other agencies.
- Experience of working with challenging behaviour
- Experience of keeping accurate and up to date records.
- Experience using Salesforce (beneficial)

**Knowledge and Skills**
- Demonstrate a knowledge of the needs of offenders and the barriers they face
- Knowledge of the range of services available to young people or vulnerable adults.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with younger people
- Ability to undertake partnership work with a range of agencies
- Excellent organisation skills and timekeeping
