This is a highly varied role that will suit someone who is adept at working with investigations and data. You can expect to find yourself reviewing information and evidence to assess energy suppliers’ compliance to regulatory obligations and participant’s compliance with scheme regulations. You will also be undertaking complex calculations to test and evaluate compliance, undertaking investigations into possible fraud or errors, investigating audit outcomes, risk management or providing support on project work. Throughout you will have extensive engagement with different stakeholders - within Ofgem and with energy suppliers and/or participants. Working on any one of our renewable energy schemes could see you working with many energy suppliers and/or hundreds of participants, so it’s a fast-paced working environment, dealing with large volumes of data.

You’ll need strong numerical skills and to have hands-on experience of working with data and investigating evidence - proficiency in Excel will be key to this. You’ll also need strong analytical skills to review a variety of evidence during the investigation inclusive of making our own enquiries. And it’s important that you have highly developed communication skills - in writing and in person, that support positive working relationships with different stakeholders.

**Job description**:
Delivery & Schemes is part of the delivery directorate of Ofgem and works on the administration and delivery of Environmental and Social schemes. We operate under 3 hubs - Operations, Policy, and Assurance. This role sits within the Assurance Hub.

Compliance Analyst roles within the Hub are expected to be adaptive in providing support to meet the needs of the Hub. These roles could involve; supporting managers assessing supplier or participant compliance inclusive of evidence gathering and analysis (investigative work), identification of suspected fraud or error, implementation of audit programmes, risk management, or providing support on specific Assurance projects.

Key areas of work within the Hub include:

- Investigation of cases of non-compliance from internal and external stakeholders inclusive of intelligence gathering and analysis
- Planning and supporting the delivery of a programme of supplier or participant audits
- Monitoring energy supplier performance against statutory obligations and audits of the supplier activity and compliance activity
- Risk management: providing support to the business to effectively identify, report and manage operational and strategic risks and issues.
- Counter Fraud: identifying, investigating and mitigating fraud on the environmental and social schemes that we administer for the government
