**More about this role**:
We are seeking a family worker to support children, young people and families from Ukraine who are living in Central Bedfordshire.

In this important and varied role, you will be part of a team offering a welcoming and accessible service that meets and adapts to local needs. In Children’s Services we want every child to have the chance to reach their full potential. By promoting wellbeing, independence, we help support them to make their own choices and become part of the community.

We are looking to speak to enthusiastic, reliable, and flexible people with excellent communications skills and a passion for supporting the wellbeing of children and young people. Applicants with skills and experience in supporting complex children and young people with trauma are particularly welcome.

**About you**:
You will have a relevant qualification or experience in working with children with emotional wellbeing needs or who have experienced trauma and will be a confident and resourceful worker, able to liaise with a wide range of agencies and be creative in ensuring children’s needs are met.

You will be working in the children’s centres across Central Bedfordshire with flexibility travelling across the county dependant on need.

**What you will be doing**:
You will benefit from working in a supportive environment with opportunities to work as part of a multi-agency team. The postholder will undertake duties to provide support to children and their families from Ukraine. You will work with children 0-18 years to ensure they are safe and well and are connected to the communities they live in.
- You will provide information around wellbeing, support and guidance to children, young people and families
- Identify need of ongoing well-being support and create a plan with the family to ensure they receive the right help at the right time
- Undertake 1:1, group, and outreach work
- Deliver direct work with children, young people, parents and families in the family home and other community locations
- Personally tailor the support, you provide to the children to suit their individual needs, wishes and feelings
- Use therapeutic and holistic approaches to offer the children the best support possible
- Facilitate access to positive activities in the community for wellbeing support
- Undertake Welfare checks for both children and adults travelling with children
- Co-work cases with other professionals including Early Help and social workers
- Use relevant case management systems, databases and business intelligence tools as directed by the Team Manager
- Be able to identify the limitations of your professional skills and knowledge and seek guidance from other professionals or refer on as needed
- Participate fully in personal supervision meetings and the annual appraisal process and undertake any training deemed necessary for the role.

**Experience**:

- Essential requirements:_
- English and Maths minimum level GCSE C or equivalent
- Direct experience of working with children and families
- Desirable requirements:_
- Experience of working with Individuals and families 1:1 and in groups
- Experience of working with people from different cultures and backgrounds and an understanding of cultural diversity, equal opportunities
- Experience working with children who have experienced trauma and an understanding of how trauma affects a person and of how not to re-traumatise someone
- Completed training and delivered Protective behaviours work.
- Supported wishes and feelings work with children
- Ability to plan and manage your own workload
- Ability to work directly with children and their families building positive relationships whilst maintaining appropriate professional boundaries
- A full UK driving licence and be willing to travel across Central Bedfordshire
