Mercy in Action have an exciting opportunity for a Stock sorter to join our dedicated and hardworking team based in our warehouse in Peasedown St John.

The Role: 

Mercy in Action receive large quantities of donations to our warehouse in Peasedown St John which need to be sorted into saleable goods and recycling and prepared for redistribution to our shops.

Working 24 hours a week (times and days can be flexible) Monday-Friday.

You: 

Will have a love of fashion and homewares and be able to spot treasures.

Will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment as part of a friendly team.

Have a keen eye for detail and be able to ensure stock is going to the right stores to achieve maximum profit for the charity.

Will have a can-do attitude and able to lift and move stock.

A little bit about us: 

Mercy in Action is a UK registered charity (1096068) working with children, their families and communities in the UK and the Philippines. 

In the UK, our Petra Project provides nurturing homes for young mums and their babies and young people, who would otherwise be facing homelessness. In the Philippines, our work centres around helping children to regain lost years by providing residential care, a schooling program and a drop-in centre for street children. Our professional staff work tirelessly to reunite families and enable them to have a future together. 

Our newest Bath-based projects, the Clothesline and Action Pantry, provide food and clothing to local families. 

Our growing network of Mercy in Action Charity shops raises essential funds for maintaining and expanding these projects, enabling us to support those most in need.

Key Responsibilities:

- Sorting and assessing donated goods into correct categories to go out to our retail shops.
- To be able to work to KPI’s to ensure stock is constantly moving and not building up in the warehouse.
- To recognise trends and vintage items to ensure the right stock is going out to the right shops.
- Selecting stock for redistribution or recycling
- Preparing stock for collection by our van driver
