The Climate Investment team is responsible for developing and managing sustainable impact funds, as well as other facilities, vehicles and platforms for investments in climate action. Our scope of expertise covers a variety of topics related to sustainable land-use, low-carbon energy, climate-smart cities and/or clean technology, to name just a few. **Job summary**:
As Impact Investment Associate you will work together with the Investment Manager of the Landscape Resilience Fund (LRF) to source investment opportunities and conduct screening and due diligence of small businesses working to scale climate-resilient land use in developing countries.

The LRF is a newly developed fund that aims to scale private investment in climate change adaptation by addressing the funding gap often faced by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that work with vulnerable people in rural landscapes. You will support the team in the development, implementation, and monitoring of effective project management and collaboration with WWF.

**Main tasks & responsibilities**:

- The following tasks and responsibilities relate to a specific role with the Landscape Resilience Fund (LRF), although you may also work with other climate finance vehicles in a slightly different capacity. Identify and analyze small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) working on sustainable land management in developing countries
- Develop and maintain financial models for prospective investments and provide support to the LRF Investment Manager in deal structuring
- Draft, review, and present investment memos for prospective SMEs internally to LRF team and to the fund’s Technical Committee and Investment Committee
- Proactively schedule and hold meetings with prospective SMEs together with other LRF team members
- Update and maintain the LRF pipeline database, and proactively suggest improvements of this tool to ensure an effective overview of available leads and ongoing deals
- Create and continuously improve project work plans, monitoring tools, and reporting templates for SME sourcing, due diligence, contracting, and portfolio management
- Assist in monitoring and controlling SME progress against agreed financial and sustainability targets and help write periodic reports to the board
- Develop and polish presentation materials for fundraising, speaking events, and business development with other stakeholders
- Support business development and proposal elaboration for potential clients
- Coordinate business development and implementation with other South Pole units across offices in a dynamic and team-oriented culture

**Requirements**:
Essential
- Relevant work experience in the financial and/or technical analysis of investment opportunities and investment portfolios in the spaces of private equity, venture capital, project finance, venture debt or similar
- Passion for sustainable investment, strong identification with the fund’s mission, and drive to pursue excellence Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills and ability to condense findings into concise and informative reports
- Demonstrable expertise in excel based financial modeling and familiarity with best practices and modeling standards (e.g. FAST) Strong project management, writing, and communication skills
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Excellent time management and willingness to take ownership of projects and workstreams

Desirable
- Foreign languages (especially Spanish, Portuguese, French, Indonesian, Vietnamese)
- Experience in the climate/environmental investment sector, especially within an investment fund with a focus on deal execution
- Experience in sustainable land management, agriculture, forestry, and biodiversity conservation
- Familiarity with Salesforce
