Aberdeen, United Kingdom Halliburton Full time

We are looking for the right people — people who want to innovate, achieve, grow and lead. We attract and retain the best talent by investing in our employees and empowering them to develop themselves and their careers. Experience the challenges, rewards and opportunity of working for one of the world’s largest providers of products and services to the global energy industry.

Under broad direction, a Geoscientist II applies advanced knowledge gained via a STEM degree and internal training to perform detailed analyses of highly-specialized sensor data from hydrocarbon reservoirs. The sensor data analyzed typically includes acoustic, nuclear spectroscopy, and electromagnetic measurements. The analyses are performed using highly specialized scientific methods in order to translate the measured data into hydrocarbon reservoir rock and fluid properties. The Consultant II uses their own discretion in selecting the parameters used in the analyses and to determine if there are quality issues with the sensor data. They compile the resulting analyses and their findings in a report that is provided to oil and gas company customers. Their findings include descriptions of the analyses steps used, as well as potential quality issues with the sensor data. The customers are geoscientists (petrophysicists, geologists, geophysicists) and engineers (reservoir engineers, completion engineers, production engineers) who use the reports to make decisions on if, and how the oil and gas companies develop their reservoirs. Geoscientist II's integrate the analyses from multiple sensor types to provide more comprehensive analyses and reports on hydrocarbon reservoir rock and fluid properties. These integrated analyses reports are targeted to particular geoscience and engineering disciplines (petrophysics, geology, geophysics, reservoir engineering, completion engineering, production engineering). Geoscientist II's are able to provide these reports to customers in at least two of these disciplines. They routinely engage customers and have frequent involvement in business development activities. Their communication skills must include effective verbal, written, and listening skills. They plan and manage their own time to perform the accountabilities of their job duties. Completion of an undergraduate degree in a STEM discipline is required to successfully perform the job. Possession of a graduate degree in a STEM discipline is preferred. A minimum of 4 years of experience is required.
