Maintenance Specialist

To lead maintenance operations within a Wholesale geographical area to enable the effective delivery of the corrective and preventative maintenance work banks to drive business performance.

Responsible for delivery against identified maintenance industry best practice KPI's to meet the wider strategic requirements of the Wholesale business

**Job Accountabilities**:

- Responsible for effective delivery of corrective and preventative maintenance work banks to deliver business performance and improve asset performance within a wholesale geographical area
- Responsible for effective backlog management of corrective and preventative maintenance work banks to reduce the operational risk of assets being out of service, by understanding issues, leading and being visible within the area to support Field Service Engineers to resolve complex operations
- To drive productivity across area by working closely with local FSE teams and Work Management to improve scheduling principles, resolve complex job issues, reduce job rejections and repeat visits
- Work collaboratively with Work Management and Systems teams to support with the creation of effective maintenance plans that deliver business performance and increase asset reliability
- Reduce asset downtime across the asset base for Production Manager areas by delivering an effective maintenance service and working closely with site teams to use local knowledge and learning to support the design and delivery of the spares strategy
- Communication of data and analytics to weekly field hub performance meetings to inform the Production Managers and field teams of asset performance, risks and issues and lessons learnt to aid continuous improvement. Where necessary to escalate issues and deal with conflicts.
- Support for monthly root cause failure analysis studies with maintenance optimisation team to improve local asset health and reduce repeat failures whilst supporting the on-going improvement of the maintenance work bank
- Provide gatekeeping support to the field hub and Production Managers to challenge high priority work requests to reduce the amount of high priority reactive work that impact on preventative maintenance delivery
- Work in a standardised way across Production Manager areas and the wider business as part of the Reliability Maintenance team to improve maintenance performance and deliver the maintenance strategy
- Effective communication with the Field Service Engineers on changes to engineering practices such as new SOP's/SSI's, preventative maintenance job plans and maintenance work bank changes to ensure that the type of work carried out is standardised across the business
- Carry out work assurance across the field teams to ensure the highest standards of safety behaviour and that the teams have the correct capabilities, training and tools to deliver an effective maintenance service
- To build strong working relationships with work management, field teams and maintenance excellence to ensure collaborative working that delivers business performance

**Knowledge and Skills**:

- Qualified to a minimum of either City and Guilds, ONC or Level 3 Diploma in Engineering with hands on engineering experience gained in an operational environment
- Strong engineering competence relating to water industry assets Highly credible in operations and maintenance technical environments in either Waste or Water treatment
- Significant experience of Maintenance led activities in terms of planning and execution of work requests
- Proven track record in delivery of complex job operations to provide high levels of customer service, quality, operational efficiency and cost effectiveness to ensure delivery
- Good planning and organisational skills to facilitate management of own workload and workload of indirect teams to deliver maintenance KPI's
- Understanding of the lifecycle of a work order and how work orders should be generated and completed including the effect on financial settlement
- Knowledge of the basics of Asset Management including costs to maintain, monitoring, maintenance routines etc. and an understanding of the process of asset registration/de-registration
- A good understanding of the fundamental principles of Reliability Centred Maintenance and how the FMEA (Failure Modes Effects Analysis) are transformed into annual/quarterly/monthly maintenance plans
- Demonstrable focus on customer requirements and innovative approach to enhancing operational working practices
- Well-developed analytical skills and a proven track record in identifying issues and driving through solutions to a wide range of technical issues relating to effective maintenance
- Proven communication (verbal and written) and influencing skills at all levels within the organisation translating company goals into day to day objectives
- Resilient, tenacious and personally driven to overcome operational obstacles with a proven ability to manage conflicting operational issues
