Duration and location: Full time 38 hrs/week - Holmfield, Halifax
Hours: Mon-Thurs: 07:30 - 16.15 (2 x 10 min, 1 x 30 min break)
Friday: 07:30 - 12:30 (1 x 10 min break)
JOB PURPOSE
To support the production facility with the routine maintenance and prompt repairs to a wide range of precision welding jigs and assembly equipment. This support often extends to assisting in troubleshooting whilst the jigs are in production. There will alsobe an element of building new welding jigs to Engineering drawings.
In addition to this there will be a requirement to support the R&D workshop with the development and production of prototype samples using a variety of Engineering machinery and equipment.

To work within a small team of engineering technicians reporting to the Product Engineering Manager.
MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- To carry out prescribed service schedules to a wide range of precision welding jigs.
- Identifying breakages/wear/potential issues with Jigs, repairing where necessary using a range of Engineering equipment.
- Suggesting Jig improvements as part of the department's continuous improvement activities.
- Maintaining the jig service schedule using MS Word & MS Excel software packages.
- Assisting in the development and build of new welding jigs.
- Support production Jig breakdowns/issues.
- Assisting in the fabrication of prototype product.
- Support design team in developing and producing new products.
- Support production in all areas.
- Capable of inspecting own work using a wide range of measuring equipment.
- Using precise measurement equipment to conduct ISIR's.
- Keeping up to date with the companies H&S E-learning modules.
- Ensure correct PPE is used at all times.
- Ensure good housekeeping practices in the development workshop.
- Willing to learn new skills which support the requirement for a multi skilled workforce within the department.
- Any other duties as and when required by management that are reasonably within the capabilities of the person and are aimed at achieving the company's objectives and goals.
KEY RESULT AREAS
- All jigs maintained to a high standard, and made readily available for production requirements.
- Ensuring Jigs are repaired with a "right first time" approach, without the need to repeat the repair.
- Successful assembly of new Jigs working to Engineering Drawings and exacting standards.
- Protypes manufactured to drawing, where a degree of autonomy is required to achieve the desired outcome.
- Reporting any areas of unsafe practice or safety concerns
- Taking care of workshop machinery and reporting any defects immediately.
- Comfortable working in a small team, assisting colleagues where and when required.
- Production support to minimise down time.
- Training and mentoring of apprentices.
- Willing to learn and support any new practices and procedures introduced into the department.

DECISIONS AND JUDGEMENTS
- To assess what is "fit for purpose", especially when a mistake has been made in production.
- Liaising with production supervisors/managers when errors have been made with a view to corrective action b being implemented.
- Analysing new projects with a view to making them production ready.
MOST CHALLENGING/DIFFICULT PARTS OF THE JOB
Challenging.
- Working under pressure to tight project/production deadlines.
- Thinking outside the box when a temporary repair maybe required to keep production running.
- Breaking off a project to assist on another more pressing matter, then picking up where you left off.

- Flexible where overtime maybe required due to a project/production issue.
- Peaks and troughs in workflow.
KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO DO THE JOB
- Extensive knowledge of Toolroom machining.
- Experience of Engineering fitting and assembly techniques.
- Experience in an Engineering/Manufacturing environment and having spent time working in a production role.
- Experience of welding techniques.
- Reading and understanding Engineering Drawings.
- Effective communicator.
- Educated to C&G/BTEC ONC/NVQ Level 3
- Some CAD/Design experience desirable
