This is an opportunity to join our Scientific and Clinical Education and Training Team to guide NHSBT employees, and other employees from across the Pathology network on their learning journey as they undertake professional science qualifications with a lead role in transfusion or blood sciences.

**Main duties of the job**
- To support in the staff's training and growth throughout the pathology network.
- To make sure that all pathology students are informed of their training competency requirements, coordinate with relevant trust and development leads.
- To find and/or offer appropriate learning opportunities, coordinate with nearby further/higher-education institutions, and other education providers.
- To stay current on training standards, communicate with relevant professional bodies.
- Inform all stakeholders of the development of your students.
- Member of the Pathology Network's Pathology Education Trainer group to promote knowledge and sharing and guarantee all network students have equal access to training and assistance.
- Work together with senior BMS colleagues/specialty leads to assist and organise training options for students to finish their programmes of study on schedule.
- To oversee supervising the mandatory training that all students must attend.
- To meet the 5 IBMS key CPD categories, support the local and network CPD offer.
- Encourage participation in other pertinent local, regional, or national networks and meetings, such as the monthly South West Regional Pathology CPD Network.
- Create and standardise the appropriate training materials, which you can then distribute throughout the Pathology Network, regionally, and farther if necessary.

**About You**

**Experience and Knowledge**
- Highly developed technical and scientific skills in blood transfusion or blood sciences.
- In depth knowledge of training requirements of pathology workforce.
- Good knowledge of health and safety regulations and undertaking risk assessments.
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of quality assurance processes and quality management systems within a hospital pathology laboratory.
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of training accreditation requirements within a hospital pathology laboratory.
- Experience of working as Specialist Biomedical Scientist within hospital pathology laboratory in either blood transfusion or blood sciences.
- Experience of working within a team
- Experience of teaching or training
- Experience of troubleshooting within a healthcare environment
- Experience of effective resource management

**Qualifications and Training**
- GCSE Grade 4/C or Level 2 English
- GCSE Grade 4/C or Level 2 Maths
- BSc Biomedical Science or equivalent IBMS Accredited Batchelor of Science
- HCPC Registration as Biomedical Scientist without restriction to practice
- IBMS Specialist Portfolio (or equivalent experience) in relevant field
- MSc in Biomedical Science or equivalent experience
