The Transport service at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital is currently looking to recruit one part time driver to work within the busy departments, days and hours to be agreed.

Monday to Friday between 07:30 hrs till 17:00 hrs, 37.5 hours to be agreed these hours will be on a weekly rota.

The Drivers salary the Salary from £18,333(based on full time working) raising over eight incremental points to £ 19,638 per annum dependent upon service.

To provide safe, competent and comprehensive support to Transport Services, departments and users of the service: transferring of goods and mail to locations on Trust Sites.

**Dimensions**:
The post involves being responsible for the carriage of goods and equipment to the health care units around the county and other hospitals as requested around the southern England and Wales.

Responsible for the safe transportation of goods and mail throughout the sites.

**Knowledge and Skills**:
1. The ability to work autonomously within national and local policies to an agreed standard within:

- Infection Control/Waste policies
- Health and Safety
- Fire procedures/access control
- Manual Handling
- Security

2. The ability to remain calm and professional whilst under pressure

3. The ability to work autonomously as part of a team.

4. To possess good communication in order to carry out the day to day operational duties in a professional manner.

5. Good interpersonal skills.

6. To have a basic understanding and experience of vehicle maintenance.

7. To have a good understanding of departments and their working arrangements.

8. To hold a clean driving licence (advanced driving qualifications would be advantageous).

9. To have a good geographical knowledge.

At all times must exercise the maximum care to prevent loss, damage, theft or injury.

To maintain a high standard of personal hygiene and cleanliness. Personal appearance must be neat, tidy and clean whilst on duty. Where uniforms are provided they should be worn at all times in accordance with the uniform policy.

It is important that due respect and regard is given to all members of the health care community and their property. To be pleasant, polite and helpful when collecting and delivering goods.

Manual Handling
To have an understanding of the Manual Handling procedures and policies adhering to all safety training.

Training
To undertake training as directed by the Trust to improve the safety and performance of the Department.

Policies and Monitoring
To ensure departments compliance with the Trust Policies such as Health and Safety controls, assurance, carriage of dangerous goods and disposal of clinical waste.

Other Duties
To carry out all other appropriate duties as may be required and requested from time to time by senior managers and are consistent with the responsibilities and duties of the grade.
