**Interpretation Coordinator**

£27,000 per annum pro rata

Full-time, 37.5 hours per week

Dudley, West Midlands

This is a fixed-term temporary position for 12 months.

Black Country Living Museum is looking for an Interpretation Coordinator to deliver high-quality, inclusive and innovative interpretation for a range of diverse audiences, and to inform the development and implementation of interpretation projects.

**BCLM is an equal opportunities employer and we are particularly keen to hear from applicants from underrepresented groups.**

**About us**

Throughout our 44-year history, Black Country Living Museum’s aim has always been clear: Inspiring your discovery of the Black Country. We ensure that the revolutionary story of the Black Country’s industrial landscape - the first ever of its kind in the UK - is celebrated by generations.

With our bostin’ seasonal, themed and high-profile events, as well as being regularly used for TV and Film locations, BCLM is one of Europe’s most successful open-air museums.

We are currently embarking upon our largest development ever, with a £multi-million investment bringing our story into the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s.

Based in the heart of the Black Country’s regeneration zone, we are within good commutable distance from many of the surrounding counties.

**About the role**

The Museum's Forging Ahead project will take its Black Country storytelling further into the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s with the creation of a historic town and an industrial quarter, consisting of 22 new buildings and structures on site. We are pioneering more inclusive storytelling approaches ranging from research, characters, oral histories and programme consultation in the course of this delivery.

As Interpretation Coordinator, your role is crucial for the shaping and arrangement of key interpretive elements of this, conducting any research required to achieve interpretation delivery and coordinating evaluation data for the project.

Other key responsibilities include:

- Delivering high quality, inclusive and historically accurate content for interpretation projects and programmes including living interpretation; performance; publications, exhibitions, formal and informal learning, online content and events.
- Supporting the Interpretation and Research Team in delivering innovative interpretation projects, and liaising with internal teams.
- Working closely with external and internal stakeholders, providing project management and coordination support for the delivery of the Museums Forging Ahead Interpretation plan.
- Supporting the delivery of co-produced programmes and projects.
- Supporting the work of colleagues across the Museum and identifying opportunities for collaboration.
- Conducting research relevant to the interpretation content being delivered.

**About you**

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled influencer experienced in delivering interpretation in a physical setting and able to positively represent our stories clearly and compellingly to both internal and external audiences.

**Begin your Black Country Journey**

**Closing date: 6 April 2023**

Interviews are expected to take place on or around 13 April 2023.

As we say in the Black Country, tara-a-bit
