**Job Details**

The Caledonian System is an integrated approach to address men's domestic abuse and to improve the lives of women, children and men. It does this by working with men convicted of domestic abuse related offences on a programme to reduce their re-offending while offering integrated services to women and children.

The Caledonian Women’s Service Worker provides safety planning, information, advice and emotional support to women partners and ex-partners.

The Caledonian Women’s Service aspires to provide the service from a trauma-informed perspective. Trauma-informed Care and Practice is a strengths-based framework that is responsive to the impact of trauma, emphasising physical, psychological, and emotional safety for both service providers and survivors; and creates opportunities for survivors to rebuild a sense of control and empowerment.

This Post is within Justice Social Work, and is in the Groupwork Services Team.

The successful applicant will form part of a larger team of workers, and will be based in Brunton House in Cowdenbeath, but will work Fife wide.

**The Person**

Because of the nature of the duties of this post, it is an occupational requirement that the post holder be female, and the post is therefore exempt from the provisions of the Equality Act 2010 in terms of Schedule 9, Part 1, Paragraph 1 of that Act.

A good knowledge of women, children and young person’s experience of domestic abuse.

Able to demonstrate a level of understanding of the challenges faced by women and children facing domestic abuse.

At least 2 years’ experience of working in an environment requiring similar knowledge and skills.

You should possess good communication skills both verbal and written, and be able to transfer these in different circumstances.

Good direct support skills.

Good organisational and IT skills appropriate to level and type of job.

Ability to prioritise, work on own initiative, within teams and with other agencies towards achieving objectives.

You must be willing to undertake a variety of essential training including Caledonian Introductory Training, SARA training, and the Caledonian’s Women’s Services Training.

**Before confirming your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland.**
